Art teacher: Gemma Lane
These lessons are for any child that is wanting a more unique art educational experience than the mainstream sector. Gemma creates a calm and safe environment from her home in North Somerset with her beloved working cocker spaniel, Mollie and her cat, Poppy. They will often greet young learners and Mollie acts as a wonderful therapy dog, giving the best cuddles!
Gemma Lane has over 15 years experience teaching Art and Photography at GCSE and A Level. She has taught at 5 different state secondary schools across Bath, Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire and has experience of AQA, OCR, WJEC, Edexcel exam bodies. Gemma has a current DBS check. She is currently tutoring both children and adults online and in person sessions and has experience of working with children that are home educated since 2022.
Gemma will tailor the lessons to your young learners interests, making the lessons fun and enjoyable introducing a range of new skills and materials.
The sessions will be planned with a theme, encouraging independent learning by meeting deadline’s and working alongside the OCR assessment criteria.
In my art space neurodivergent children are celebrated for their unique strengths. The joy of art is there is no pressure for rigid, "correct" answers, I use art as a dynamic non-verbal outlet that allows students to process emotions and communicate through their natural visual thinking. My lessons safely support sensory regulation through varied tactile exploration, embraces deep hyperfocus on special interests, and strengthens executive functioning through accessible, multi-step projects. By shifting the focus from traditional classroom barriers to creative autonomy, my teaching reduces anxiety and fosters a profound sense of self-esteem and belonging in every student.
